About This Program
American Millwright and Rigging sponsors this employer-based Millwright apprenticeship program in Audubon, NJ. This is a non-union program designed to develop skilled industrial machinery specialists capable of installing, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment across manufacturing and industrial facilities. Apprentices are paid throughout their training.
The program runs for four years and combines 8,000 hours of on-the-job training with 576 hours of related technical instruction. On the job, apprentices learn to align and install machinery, work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, perform precision leveling, and use rigging techniques to move heavy equipment. Classroom instruction covers blueprint reading, applied mathematics, mechanical systems, and equipment troubleshooting.
Upon completing the program, graduates are qualified to work as journey-level millwrights — skilled tradespeople in high demand across industries including manufacturing, power generation, and chemical processing. This apprenticeship offers a direct path to a well-rounded mechanical career with practical skills developed from day one.
