About This Program
Brown's Refrigeration Service, Inc., headquartered in Tallahassee, FL, sponsors this registered, non-union HVAC Technician apprenticeship. Apprentices are paid while they train, gaining real-world field experience under the supervision of experienced refrigeration and HVAC professionals in the Tallahassee area.
This time-based, four-year program combines 8,000 hours of on-the-job training with 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices learn to install, service, and troubleshoot heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems. Technical instruction covers refrigeration theory, electrical systems, system controls, equipment diagnostics, and EPA regulations for refrigerant handling.
Upon completion, apprentices are ready to work as journey-level HVAC technicians with a strong foundation in both refrigeration and climate control systems. The skills gained through this program support a rewarding long-term career in the mechanical trades.
