About This Program
The Cement Masons JATC, Mahoning, Columbiana, & Trumbull sponsors this union cement mason apprenticeship based in Vienna, OH. Serving a tri-county region of northeast Ohio, this JATC program provides a rigorous, structured path into the cement masonry trade for individuals ready to build a career in construction.
This time-based program spans three years, combining 6,000 hours of on-the-job training with 432 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices develop hands-on skills in concrete pouring, screeding, floating, troweling, and surface finishing while working on real job sites. Classroom instruction addresses safety codes, concrete mix design, blueprint interpretation, and tool usage. Apprentices are paid throughout the program and receive wage increases as they progress.
Upon completion, graduates earn journeyman cement mason status under union standards, positioning them for stable, well-compensated careers in the construction trades across Mahoning, Columbiana, and Trumbull counties. Union membership provides access to negotiated wages and benefit packages.
