About This Program

Central Ohio Lineworker Training in Mt. Gilead, OH sponsors this non-union Lineman Apprenticeship, offering a structured and paid training program for individuals ready to pursue a career as an electrical line worker. Located in central Ohio, the program prepares apprentices to serve utilities and electrical contractors throughout the region.

The apprenticeship runs four years and is built on 7,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices develop hands-on skills in constructing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground electric distribution lines, operating bucket trucks and line equipment, working safely around high-voltage systems, and following OSHA and utility safety standards. Classroom instruction covers electrical theory, line construction methods, hardware and materials, and applicable codes.

Upon completing the apprenticeship, graduates qualify as journey-level linemen, prepared to work across a range of employers in the utility and electrical construction sectors. Ohio's aging power infrastructure and ongoing grid investment create steady demand for qualified linemen, making this credential a valuable asset for a long-term skilled trades career.
