About This Program

The Central South Carpenters & Millwrights Training Trust Fund sponsors this non-union Millwright Apprenticeship in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Designed to meet the demands of the region's industrial workforce, this paid, employer-affiliated program trains individuals to install, align, and maintain heavy machinery across manufacturing, petrochemical, and industrial construction settings.

The four-year program consists of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices work hands-on with industrial machinery installation, rigging, welding, mechanical drive systems, and hydraulic and pneumatic components. Classroom learning focuses on mechanical theory, blueprint reading, industrial safety standards, lubrication, and trade mathematics, coordinating closely with field assignments to build well-rounded competency.

Upon completing the program, apprentices achieve journeyman millwright status and are well-prepared for employment in Baton Rouge's extensive petrochemical and manufacturing industries. Apprentices are paid throughout all four years of the program, making this an accessible and financially stable path into a high-skill industrial trade.
