Cherokee Millwright Inc. sponsors this employer-based Millwright apprenticeship program in Maryville, TN. This non-union program is designed to train individuals in the full scope of millwright work, including the installation, alignment, and maintenance of industrial machinery found in manufacturing plants and processing facilities. Apprentices earn wages throughout their training period.

The program is four years in duration, structured around 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Hands-on training covers precision machinery alignment, rigging and lifting operations, hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance, and the use of specialized measurement tools. Related technical instruction addresses blueprint reading, applied mathematics, mechanical systems, and safety protocols.

Upon successful completion, apprentices reach journey-level millwright status and are prepared to work independently on complex industrial machinery tasks. With manufacturing and industrial employers throughout East Tennessee, graduates of this program enter a job market with consistent demand for qualified millwrights.
