About This Program
The City of Sumas Lineman Apprenticeship Committee in Sumas, WA sponsors this employer-based, non-union Lineman Apprenticeship through the city's municipal utility. This program offers a paid, structured training opportunity for individuals interested in working in public power and maintaining the electrical infrastructure of a community-owned utility system.
The apprenticeship spans four years and is built on 7,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Classroom instruction covers electrical theory, distribution system operations, hardware and materials, and applicable safety codes.
