This time-based apprenticeship runs four years and is structured around 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices learn to install, repair, and maintain insulation on piping, boilers, tanks, and mechanical systems under the guidance of experienced journey-level workers. Technical coursework covers insulation products and application techniques, hazardous materials awareness, safety standards, and trade math.

Upon completion, graduates achieve journey-level status as Insulation Workers, Mechanical.
