About This Program

The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 138 sponsors this union (JATC) apprenticeship for heavy equipment operators in Brookhaven, NY. Based on Long Island, Local 138 works with area contractors to place apprentices on a range of commercial, residential, and civil construction projects throughout the region. Apprentices are compensated throughout the program and receive wage increases as their skills and experience grow.

This four-year program includes 6,000 hours of on-the-job training and 432 hours of related technical instruction.
