About This Program
Jackson County Millwrights JATC sponsors this union Millwright apprenticeship program located in White City, OR. As a Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee program, it is jointly administered by labor and management to ensure apprentices receive consistent, high-quality training in line with industry standards. All apprentices are paid throughout the program.
The apprenticeship runs four years, encompassing 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices develop skills in industrial machinery installation, precision alignment, rigging and hoisting, and the maintenance of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Classroom instruction supports field experience with coursework in blueprint reading, mechanical systems theory, and workplace safety.
Completing this program earns graduates journey-level millwright status, recognized by union signatory employers across the region. Millwrights work in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, lumber, and energy, making this union apprenticeship a solid investment in a long-term trade career in southern Oregon.
