About This Program
The Mid-South Carpenters Regional Council Training Trust Fund, in partnership with North Alabama Carpenters (Florence) Local Union 1209 JATC, sponsors this union carpenter apprenticeship with administration based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This JATC program extends union carpenter training opportunities to apprentices across the mid-South and northern Alabama regions.
The time-based apprenticeship spans four years and requires 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices build skills in framing, concrete forming, finish carpentry, and general construction work under the supervision of journey-level carpenters. Technical instruction covers blueprint reading, construction mathematics, safety regulations, and carpentry tools and equipment.
Upon completing the apprenticeship, graduates achieve journeyman carpenter status with full union recognition. The partnership between the Mid-South Regional Council and LU 1209 ensures apprentices have strong regional support and access to union wage scales and benefits throughout the duration of their training.
