About This Program

Midwest Millwright Services sponsors this non-union Millwright Apprenticeship program based in Rockford, Illinois. This four-year, paid apprenticeship is designed for individuals who want to build a career in industrial maintenance and machinery installation, gaining hands-on experience in real industrial settings while earning wages throughout their training.

The program includes 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices work on installing, aligning, and repairing industrial machinery; operating rigging equipment; performing welding tasks; and working with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drive systems. Technical classroom instruction covers precision measurement, safety compliance, blueprint reading, and industrial mechanical theory.

Graduates earn journeyman millwright credentials and are prepared for careers in Illinois's manufacturing, food processing, and heavy industry sectors. Because this apprenticeship is paid from the start, individuals can enter a high-skill trade without the financial burden of a traditional degree program, making it a practical and direct path to a well-rounded industrial career.
