About This Program
Millwright Machine, Inc. sponsors this non-union Millwright Apprenticeship program in Gary, Indiana. This employer-sponsored apprenticeship offers a paid, structured route into industrial machinery work, serving the needs of manufacturing and heavy industrial facilities in the greater northwest Indiana region.
The program runs four years and includes 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices develop skills in machinery installation, precision leveling and alignment, mechanical system maintenance, rigging, and welding. They also gain experience with conveyor systems, pumps, and power transmission components. Classroom instruction covers industrial safety, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, mechanical blueprints, and trade mathematics.
Upon completion, apprentices earn journeyman millwright credentials and are well-positioned to pursue long-term careers in Indiana's robust industrial sector. All four years of training are compensated, giving apprentices the financial stability to complete the program while gaining the hands-on skills that employers in manufacturing and industrial maintenance actively seek.
