About This Program

The National Association of Elevator Constructors (NAEC) sponsors this registered Elevator Constructor apprenticeship based in Conyers, GA. This is a non-union program designed to train individuals in the installation, maintenance, and repair of elevators, escalators, and related lifting equipment. Apprentices earn a paycheck from day one while building skills that are in consistent demand across commercial and residential construction.

The program runs for four years and combines 8,000 hours of on-the-job training with 576 hours of related technical instruction. On the job, apprentices learn to read blueprints, wire control systems, install guide rails, fit car frames and platforms, and perform safety inspections. Classroom instruction covers electrical theory, hydraulics, mechanical systems, and applicable safety codes including ASME A17.1.
