About This Program
New England Drywall Co, Inc., based in East Providence, RI, offers a registered drywall installer apprenticeship for individuals ready to begin a career in the construction trades. This non-union, employer-sponsored program provides paid training, enabling apprentices to earn wages throughout the duration of the program.
Spanning 3 years, the apprenticeship includes 6,000 hours of on-the-job training and 432 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices develop practical skills in hanging and securing drywall panels, installing light-gauge steel framing, cutting materials to specification, and completing assemblies in compliance with architectural plans. Technical instruction addresses construction safety, building codes, blueprint reading, and material estimation practices.
Graduates earn journey-level status as drywall installers and are prepared to work on a variety of construction projects throughout Rhode Island and the surrounding region. Skills developed through this program support career advancement into supervisory and project management roles over time.
