About This Program
NLC – Northwest Lineman College in Denton, TX sponsors this non-union Lineman Apprenticeship, providing a paid and structured training program for aspiring electrical line workers in Texas. Apprentices earn wages throughout the four-year program while building the skills and experience needed to work professionally on electrical power systems.
The time-based program includes 7,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices gain experience constructing and maintaining overhead and underground electric distribution lines, operating utility vehicles and aerial lift equipment, safely working around energized systems, and meeting OSHA and industry safety requirements. Technical instruction covers electrical theory, line hardware, construction methods, and applicable regulations.
Upon completion, apprentices achieve journey-level lineman status, qualifying them for roles across Texas's diverse utility and electrical construction sectors. NLC's established training curriculum gives graduates a credential that is well-recognized by employers in the utility industry, supporting strong career prospects in a high-demand skilled trade.
