About This Program
Northwest Lineman College (NLC) sponsors a registered lineman apprenticeship at its Edgewater, FL location. A nationally known training provider in the electrical utility trades, NLC's Florida campus offers a non-union, structured apprenticeship for individuals entering the power line installation and maintenance field. Apprentices receive wages from the start of the program.
The four-year apprenticeship includes 7,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices learn to safely work with high-voltage transmission and distribution systems, install overhead and underground power lines, operate bucket trucks and derrick equipment, and respond to outages and emergencies. Technical coursework covers electrical principles, utility safety, and power delivery systems.
Graduates of the NLC Edgewater program earn journeyman lineman status, a recognized credential in Florida's growing utility workforce. With the state's ongoing investment in grid hardening and storm resilience infrastructure, demand for skilled journeyman lineworkers in Florida remains consistently strong.
