About This Program
Northwest Lineman College's Oroville Campus sponsors a registered lineman apprenticeship in Oroville, CA. This non-union program is offered by one of the country's recognized lineman training institutions and is designed to prepare apprentices for careers in electrical power transmission and distribution. Apprentices earn wages throughout the full four years of training.
The program includes 7,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices develop hands-on proficiency in installing and maintaining overhead and underground power lines, operating bucket trucks and aerial equipment, working safely with high-voltage systems, and following OSHA and utility-specific safety protocols. Classroom instruction covers electrical fundamentals, print reading, and utility systems.
Graduates earn journeyman lineman status — a high-value credential in California's utility sector, which faces ongoing demand driven by grid modernization, wildfire mitigation infrastructure, and renewable energy expansion. The Oroville campus serves as a practical gateway into this essential trade.
