About This Program

Northwest Lineman College in York, SC sponsors this non-union Lineman Apprenticeship, offering a paid, comprehensive training program for individuals ready to start a career in electrical line work. The South Carolina campus provides apprentices in the Southeast with access to industry-recognized training backed by Northwest Lineman College's established curriculum.

This time-based apprenticeship runs four years and includes 7,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices learn to construct and maintain overhead and underground power distribution systems, operate bucket trucks and line vehicles, handle energized electrical conductors with proper safety procedures, and meet OSHA and utility industry requirements. Classroom instruction covers electrical theory, line construction principles, hardware components, and regulatory standards.

Completions earn journey-level lineman credentials, preparing graduates to enter the workforce with electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, investor-owned utilities, and electrical contractors across the Carolinas and beyond. The growing Southeast energy market offers strong employment opportunities for qualified linemen entering the trade.
