About This Program
The Operating Engineers JAC offers a union Operating Engineer apprenticeship in Boston, KY. This Joint Apprenticeship Committee (JATC) program combines employer participation with union training resources to prepare apprentices for careers in heavy construction equipment operation across Kentucky. Apprentices earn wages while training from day one of the program.
The apprenticeship runs for four years and includes 6,000 hours of on-the-job training alongside 432 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices develop hands-on proficiency operating cranes, excavators, bulldozers, graders, and other construction equipment on active job sites.
