The Operating Engineers JATC for 46 Northern Counties in CA sponsors this union Operating Engineer apprenticeship program based in Sloughhouse, CA. This JATC program is jointly administered by labor and management to deliver consistent, high-quality training for apprentices seeking careers in heavy equipment operation across a wide area of Northern California. Apprentices earn wages from the beginning of the program.
The four-year program includes 6,000 hours of on-the-job training and 432 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices train under experienced journey-level operators on equipment including excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, scrapers, and cranes in live construction environments.
