About This Program

The Operating Engineers Local 101 Apprentice Fund sponsors this union (JATC) apprenticeship for aspiring heavy equipment operators in Platte City, MO. Backed by one of the region's established construction trade unions, this program prepares apprentices to safely and efficiently operate a wide range of heavy machinery used in construction, excavation, grading, and infrastructure work. Apprentices earn wages from day one while developing hands-on skills in the field.

The program runs for four years and combines 6,000 hours of on-the-job training with 432 hours of related technical instruction. On the job, apprentices learn to operate equipment such as bulldozers, cranes, excavators, and graders. Classroom instruction covers equipment mechanics, safety regulations, blueprint reading, and site management fundamentals.

Upon completing the program, graduates earn journeyman status as Operating Engineers, qualifying them for skilled positions on commercial, industrial, and civil construction projects throughout Missouri and beyond.
