Schindler Elevator sponsors a registered Elevator Constructor apprenticeship in Richmond, VA. As one of the world's leading manufacturers and service providers in the elevator and escalator industry, Schindler offers apprentices access to training on sophisticated equipment and systems in a non-union, employer-sponsored format. Apprentices are compensated throughout the full length of the program.
The four-year apprenticeship includes 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices work with Schindler's experienced field teams to learn installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and modernization of elevator and escalator systems. Technical coursework addresses electrical principles, mechanical and hydraulic systems, safety codes, and Schindler product-specific training.
Upon completing the apprenticeship, graduates are credentialed journey-level Elevator Constructors equipped to work independently on complex vertical transportation systems.
