About This Program
Sheet Metal Workers Local #27 JATC sponsors a five-year union apprenticeship program in Farmingdale, New Jersey. Backed by a Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, this program delivers rigorous, paid training for apprentices entering the sheet metal trade in central New Jersey.
The program includes 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 640 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices learn to fabricate and install HVAC duct systems, roofing and flashing, architectural metal components, and industrial sheet metal assemblies. Classroom instruction covers blueprint reading, applied mathematics, welding fundamentals, and comprehensive safety training.
Upon graduation, apprentices earn journeyman sheet metal worker credentials through Local #27, a recognized designation throughout New Jersey's commercial and industrial construction sector. Union JATC membership supports access to negotiated wages, benefits, and continued education that help journeymen advance throughout their careers.
