The Southern WI Heat & Frost Insulators JAC sponsors this union insulator apprenticeship in Pewaukee, WI. This Joint Apprenticeship Committee program serves the greater Milwaukee metro area and southern Wisconsin, combining union support with employer-based training to prepare apprentices for long-term careers in mechanical insulation. Apprentices earn wages from the start and progress through graduated pay increases over the four-year program.
The apprenticeship is time-based, running four years with 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 576 hours of related technical instruction. On the job, apprentices install and finish insulation on mechanical systems, HVAC ductwork, piping, boilers, and industrial equipment. Classroom instruction covers insulation types and application methods, thermal and energy efficiency principles, safety regulations, hazardous materials awareness, and blueprint reading.
Graduates complete the program as journey-level Insulation Workers, Mechanical.
