Carpenter License Requirements in Massachusetts

Massachusetts requires a Construction Supervisor License (CSL) issued by the Board of Building Regulations and Standards for anyone supervising construction of 1- and 2-family residences and other structures up to 35,000 cubic feet. While carpenters as employees do not require individual licensure, those acting as supervisors or running their own carpentry business typically need a CSL.
