Carpenter License Requirements in Washington

Washington State requires all construction contractors to be registered with the Department of Labor and Industries (L&I). While there is no separate statewide journeyman carpenter license for employees, carpenters operating as independent contractors or running carpentry businesses must register with L&I (https://lni.wa.gov/licensing-permits/contractors/apply-for-a-contractor-license).
