Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local Union #2, representing the Albany district and based in Albany, NY, offers this employer-sponsored Mason apprenticeship for individuals ready to build a career in masonry. Apprentices are compensated throughout their training, earning income while mastering one of the construction industry's most enduring skilled trades.
The apprenticeship runs for 3 years and encompasses 6,000 hours of on-the-job training and 432 hours of related technical instruction. On job sites across the Capital Region, apprentices develop skills in bricklaying, stone and block installation, mortar work, construction plan interpretation, and site safety. Classroom instruction provides a technical grounding in masonry materials, applied math, and trade safety regulations.
Graduates earn journey-level mason credentials, making them eligible to work independently across a broad spectrum of masonry projects in New York's Capital District and beyond. The Albany area supports a steady volume of public and private construction, offering journey-level masons consistent and rewarding long-term employment.
