C&C Masonry Inc. in Opelika, AL sponsors this employer-based, non-union Mason Apprenticeship, offering a paid training opportunity for individuals looking to build a hands-on career in masonry construction. Apprentices work alongside experienced craftworkers from day one, earning wages while developing the skills required for journey-level masonry work in Alabama.
This three-year, time-based apprenticeship includes 6,000 hours of on-the-job training and 432 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices learn to lay brick, block, and stone to construct walls, partitions, arches, and other structures; read and interpret blueprints and project specifications; mix and apply mortar; and maintain worksite safety in compliance with OSHA standards. Classroom instruction covers masonry materials and tools, blueprint reading, construction math, and industry safety practices.
Completing the apprenticeship qualifies graduates to work as journey-level masons, prepared for careers with masonry contractors, general construction firms, and commercial and residential builders throughout Alabama. Skilled masons are consistently in demand across the Southeast construction market, and this apprenticeship provides the verified, hands-on experience that employers look for when hiring.
