About This Program
Horst Masonry Construction, Inc. sponsors this Mason apprenticeship based in Rapid City, SD. This employer-sponsored, time-based program offers individuals a hands-on path into the masonry trade, training on actual job sites under the guidance of experienced masonry professionals in the western South Dakota region.
The three-year program includes 6,000 hours of paid on-the-job training and 432 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices develop practical skills in brick, block, and stone laying, mortar preparation and placement, structural masonry construction, concrete finishing, and safe job site practices. Technical instruction reinforces field experience with coursework in trade math, blueprint reading, building codes, and masonry materials.
Upon completing the program, apprentices are prepared to perform journey-level masonry work on a variety of construction projects throughout the Rapid City area and across western South Dakota. Horst Masonry Construction provides a focused, employer-led learning environment with direct mentorship throughout the apprenticeship.
