Independent Roofing Contractors of California, Inc. sponsors a registered Roofer apprenticeship based in Ripon, CA. This non-union, employer-sponsored program prepares apprentices for careers in California's commercial and residential roofing industry through a combination of structured on-the-job training and related classroom instruction. Apprentices are paid throughout the three-year program.
The apprenticeship includes 4,000 hours of hands-on work experience and 432 hours of technical instruction. Apprentices learn to install and repair a variety of roofing systems including tile, shingle, flat roof, and waterproofing systems. Coursework covers roofing materials and application methods, California building codes, jobsite safety, fall protection standards, and proper use of tools and equipment.
