About This Program
Masonry Inc, based in Middletown, Delaware, sponsors this registered Mason apprenticeship program. This is a non-union, employer-sponsored program open to individuals who want to build a hands-on career in the masonry trades. Apprentices are paid throughout the entire training period, earning a wage from day one.
The program runs for three years and combines 6,000 hours of on-the-job training with 432 hours of related technical instruction. On the job, apprentices work alongside experienced masons learning to lay brick, block, and stone for residential and commercial structures. Classroom instruction covers blueprint reading, material properties, safety practices, and trade mathematics to reinforce what apprentices encounter in the field.
Upon completing the program, graduates are recognized as journey-level masons with the skills to work independently on a wide range of masonry projects. A journeyman mason credential opens doors to steady employment in construction, with opportunities to advance into supervisory or specialty roles over time.
