About This Program
Masonry Unlimited in Cherryville, NC sponsors a registered non-union Mason apprenticeship that provides hands-on, paid training for those entering the masonry trade. Located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, the program offers apprentices the opportunity to work on real projects while earning a wage from the beginning of their training.
This time-based program runs for three years and includes 6,000 hours of on-the-job training combined with 432 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices learn core masonry skills including laying brick, block, and stone; mixing and placing mortar; performing layout and measurement tasks; and using hand and power tools safely. Classroom instruction covers construction blueprints, safety practices, masonry trade theory, and the math required for accurate installation work.
Upon completing the apprenticeship, graduates receive journey-level mason credentials and are prepared to work independently in residential and commercial construction. The demand for skilled masons remains strong throughout North Carolina, and a journey-level credential from a registered program carries weight with employers across the region.
