About This Program
Ricky Nelson Masonry in Little Rock, AR sponsors this employer-based, non-union Mason Apprenticeship, offering a paid training pathway for individuals interested in pursuing a skilled career in masonry construction. Apprentices work directly on job sites with experienced masons, earning wages throughout the program while building the hands-on expertise needed for journey-level work.
The apprenticeship runs three years and is structured around 6,000 hours of on-the-job training and 432 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices learn to lay and bind building materials such as brick, concrete block, and stone using mortar and other binding agents; read blueprints and construction drawings; calculate material quantities; and apply safe work practices in compliance with OSHA standards. Technical instruction covers masonry tools and materials, blueprint reading, construction math, and worksite safety.
Graduates complete the program as journey-level masons, ready to work with masonry and general construction contractors across Arkansas and the broader region. Masonry skills are in consistent demand across residential, commercial, and public construction sectors, and completing a registered apprenticeship provides employers with confidence in a candidate's verified field experience.
