About This Program
The SW Florida Chapter of the Masonry Association of Florida, Inc., GNJ, located in Naples, Florida, sponsors this registered Mason apprenticeship program. Operating as a group non-joint program, it connects participants with participating masonry employers in the Southwest Florida area. This non-union program pays apprentices throughout their training period.
The apprenticeship runs for three years and is structured around 6,000 hours of on-the-job training and 432 hours of related technical instruction. Apprentices develop hands-on skills in brick, block, and stone masonry on real construction job sites under the mentorship of experienced journey-level masons. Classroom instruction reinforces field learning with coursework in construction safety, trade mathematics, material science, and blueprint reading.
Graduating apprentices earn journey-level mason credentials, qualifying them for independent employment in masonry construction throughout Southwest Florida and beyond. The region's active residential and commercial construction activity makes this a strong trade to enter, with journeyman masons well-positioned for stable, long-term careers.
