About This Program
Verta Masonry LLC, based in Whitehouse Station, NJ, sponsors this non-union Mason apprenticeship program for individuals looking to build a career in the masonry trades. Apprentices earn wages from day one while developing hands-on skills alongside experienced craftworkers in a structured, employer-sponsored program.
The program runs for 3 years and combines 6,000 hours of on-the-job training with 432 hours of related technical instruction. On the job, apprentices learn to lay brick, block, and stone; read blueprints; mix and apply mortar; and work safely on residential and commercial construction sites. Classroom instruction covers masonry mathematics, materials science, and construction safety standards.
Upon completing the program, graduates are recognized as journey-level masons with the skills to work independently across a range of masonry applications. A masonry journeyman credential opens doors to steady employment in construction, with opportunities to specialize or advance into supervisory roles over time.
